Brest (bielorrusso, Брэст Brest, em russo, Брест Brest, em polonês, Brześć, em Lituano, Brestas), anteriormente conhecido como Brest-Litovsk (russo Брест-Литовск Brest-Litovsk, ver etimologia) é uma cidade em Belarus , perto da fronteira com a Polônia, na confluência dos rios Bug Ocidental e Mukhavets. A população é de 298 329 habitantes (2004). Brest é a capital da província homônima.
Brest está localizado na linha ferroviária entre Berlim, Varsóvia e Moscovo, por isso foi um ponto importante de comunicação após a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Atualmente serve como ponto de troca de mercadorias e passagem de pessoas entre a União Européia e a Europa Oriental. Devido à maior largura de ferrovias russas em relação Europeia, Brest possui as instalações necessárias para proceder à mudança de bitola.
Em fevereiro, o Tratado de Brest-Litovsk entre a República Popular da Ucrânia e as Potências Centrais e, em março, o Tratado de Brest-Litovsk entre a Rússia Soviética e as Potências Centrais: Em 1918, foram assinados dois tratados em Brest.

Brest (in Belarusian, Брэст Brest, in Russian, Брест Brest, in Polish, Brześć, in Lithuanian, Brestas), formerly known as Brest-Litovsk (in Russian, Брест-Литовск Brest-Litovsk, see Toponymy) is a city in Belarus , near the border with Poland, at the confluence of the Western Bug and Mujavéts rivers. The population is 298 329 inhabitants (2004). Brest is the capital of the homonymous province.
Brest is located on the railway between Berlin, Warsaw and Moscow, so it was an important point of communications after the Second World War. Currently serves as a point of exchange of goods and passage of people between the European Union and Eastern Europe. Due to the greater width of the Russian railway lines with respect to the European ones, Brest has the necessary facilities to proceed with the change of gauge.
In 1918, two treaties were signed in Brest: in February, the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk between the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Central Powers and, in March, the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk between Soviet Russia and the Central Powers.
